Happy New Year

No one remembers the name of the Fold-Pak designer who, in the 1970s, added the iconic pagoda illustration and chopstick-style “Thank You” text to the ubiquitous take out “paper pail.” We do know that the pail was invented by Frederick Weeks Wilcox in 1894. The New York Times has a brief but interesting piece on the history of classic folding box that has become synonymous with Chinese takeout (despite having nothing whatsoever to do with Chinese culture).
