Anthony Cerniello usually edits commercials and music videos. Recently, however, he took on a personal project with startling results. Editing together a series of still portraits of related family members, Cerniello used After Effects’ and 3D Studio Max to morph the portraits into a continuous chronological stream. The result is a fascinating look at the invisible aging process.
The changes to the aging “Danielle” are imperceptible from moment to moment, but over the course of the 5-minute video they are undeniable. The idea, says Cerniello, was to “create a person in order to emulate the aging process. The idea was that something is happening but you can’t see it but you can feel it, like aging itself.”
